What We Collect

When you order a free trial issue, a subscription or any of our products, we ask you to provide your name, shipping address, e-mail address and, if applicable, credit-card information/billing address. This allows us to process and fulfill your order. Without it, we wouldn't be able to get you the magazine or products you want. During the order process, you have the option to allow or disallow your e-mail address to be added to our mailing list. If you do not want to receive any information from us by e-mail, including newsletters covering topics such as Vermont news, future articles in Vermont Life, special promotions or savings, or subscription renewal reminders, please make sure to enter "no" in the "E-mail Newsletter? Yes/No:" space in the online checkout process.

What We Do With It

Under no circumstances will Vermont Life provide your e-mail address to any other marketers, nor will you receive any unsolicited e-mail from Vermont Life except as may be necessary to process your order or to request permission to send you possible future e-mail newsletters or other services we may develop.

Internal Use - Personal Information:
From time to time we may publish e-mail newsletters on subjects of Vermont interest, or offer sales or special offerings. We like to offer these to our existing and preferred customers first. To do so, we might send our customers an e-mail notification or reminder. Again, if you do not want to receive anything of this type, please mark the E-mail Newsletter option "no" during the order process. Alternatively, feel free to e-mail us at customer service or call (M-F, 8:00 - 4:30) 800-455-3399 and request that your e-mail address be removed from the list.

Demographic Data:
We occasionally aggregate our sales and market information based on our customers' purchases. We like to understand our customers' preferences, what products are the most popular, and how our business is doing. This information is not linked to any specific customer: no names, addresses or credit-card information are used.

Cookies

Our shopping cart tracks our online customers through the use of cookies. These cookies serve only to allow the shopping cart to pre-fill some of its forms with information you previously entered if you return in subsequent sessions. Cookies allow a web application to respond to you as an individual. By gathering and remembering information about your preferences, the web application can tailor its operation to your needs, likes, and dislikes.

To avoid cookies on your computer, you may set your browser to refuse all cookies.

Security

We gather and store all your personal information, including credit-card information, on a secure server provided by our shopping cart service and on a secure, offline database at Vermont Life's office. Only those staff of Vermont Life and the shopping cart service who need this information in order to provide services you request have access to this information at any time. No outside third party is ever given access to your information.

Your Options

In keeping with common order-processing and customer-acquisition practices, we do occasionally share our postal mailing lists. However, before doing so, we run our lists against the Direct Marketing Association's national Do-Not-Promote list to ensure we do not send mail to anyone who has put their name on this list. From time to time, we may opt to have other organizations (those we feel will be of interest to you) send you information about themselves. If you are a mail-order or Internet customer and have not told us to withhold your information, you may receive occasional promotional offers from such companies. If you would prefer to be removed from this list, please call our Customer Service number, (M-F, 8:00 - 4:30) 800-455-3399 or e-mail us at customer service and request that your name be removed from the list.
